... and then the cage comes down
08 July 2009 @ 03:18 pm
Mother came home yesterday with a DVD of super old VHS footage of my brother as a newborn, and a tiny wee me running about and giggling at people. I sounded like a chipmunk. 4yo Emma's comment about the new baby? "I wanted him to be a girl so I could call him Pixie." If only I had known then what I know now. Uh, however, this also means I potentially have the means now to convert another beloved super old VHS to DVD! Can we guess which one? Updates to come.

Just booked GNW tickets for August. :D No, it shall never be enough. Anyway, everyone should be proud of me; this is a fortnightly excuse for me to get out of the house and have a 'night on the town'. Hungry Jacks dinner at 8:30 and home by 10 ;) PLUS PAUL.

Still sick. Sigh. I should maybe be reading Jane Eyre and other uni-related texts. I spent the last two hours watching Dylan Moran dvds. Very helpful. Also, I'm feeling very out of tough with Middle Earthian news; is there some way to see TORN updates on LJ or something lol? I are lazy.

Flu is back. WHY. We just did this, body! I need to be healthy right now; I'm rearranging my room before the upcoming house inspection, which is a huge gigantic horrible process, and it's the holidays, and we're going out to see Bruno in a few nights, and ugh. Stupid sickness. I've spent the day being either freezing cold and miserable, or boiling hot and miserable. Ugh.

Also, I enjoy the fact that Green Day just held a concert in Vancouver. J2 were obviously in the general vicinity. Clearly the went along and were inspired by the epic Green Day gay.

Obligatory GNW squee. )

I'll just be over here, watching this over and over and over again. :D Hurry up, podcast. They're so smiley and adorable. Heeeee. Oh, DAAS. Also, Paul needs to sing all the time. And if Tim and Richard wanted to come on regularly and sing with him, then, well, what's the harm?

Why is it so hard to find any DAAS material? I would love to be able to purchase the super old, rare, probably scratched albums on eBay but, realistically, I kinda have to stop bidding when we reach the $70 mark. Sigh.

Hobbits are just as much a threat to my diet as Dean Winchester is. All this talk about fresh bread and baked goods; I'll blame Pippin when I go crazy and rush out for pastries. Mmm. No bridging-movie aside, would it be too much to ask to have a teensy glimpse of pre-LOTR Frodo, young and bouncy and entertaining wee!cousins in the new films? Come on, come on, Peter and Guillermo. I neeeeed it.

Anyway, because oh wow, GNW squee: )

Firstly, I have been re-reading some beloved LOTR fiction lately, and have to re-direct everyone to Fate and the High King's Falcon. I remember spending hours upon hours imagining how this must have played out, even attempting to write it myself as an early foray into fanfiction, but then I discovered this: It's such a beautiful, lovely tale of Pippin's recovery after his run in with the troll, and there is clearly so much love between the characters involved. The hobbits, obviously, but there are gorgeous moments shared between Pippin and Strider, Pippin and Legolas... Just all of them.

"Legolas, you made up a drinking song," Pippin whispered with delight.
"Surely not," Legolas replied. "I think you must be dreaming, Pip."
"Not even I could dream up the Prince of Mirkwood composing hobbit drinking songs," Pippin asserted, and then squawked as elven fingers pinched his ear. There was a sudden tussle involving tickling elvish hands and kicking hobbit feet that ended with the hobbit snuggling contentedly into the elf's shoulder.
"I knew my part was a drinking song," Pippin said with a resigned sigh as he began to drift back toward sleep.
"Perhaps that is just part of your song," Legolas said, and Pippin made a sleepy noise of agreement as his eyes shut.

<3333 Oh, how I love them all.

Okay. And now. Because it was epic. Reports from the GNW tapings. )

Okay. Apparently Green Day tickets actually go on pre-sale Thursday, BUT they have decided to be tricksy and only release the 300 good (up front) GA tickets on June 1st at some venue in the city. So, if I want to try and get good tickets, I need to go spend the night in the city and line up and HOPE that I'm close enough to the front of the queue to actually purchase them. Which means if I miss out, I've also missed out on the pre-sale, AND the online normal sale.

... I'm not happy about this. It's a cute idea, but I can be just as loyal a fan via the internet, thanks very much. Seriously, 21st Century and all that. I don't relish the idea of spending the night on my own in the city, the verge of a panic attack in the cold/rain, hoping against hope I actually get a ticket. This is my unhappy face. I think I'll buy seats in the pre-sale and sell them if I manage to get GA tickets later, but... *pouts and mutters* Gah, they're only doing one show here, who knows when they'll next be out... I just want good tickets!

... Stress. But eased somewhat by GNW Squee )

Green Day will apparently have an interview on Rove this Sunday. :D Chances of gay are high.

Went out to a cute Thai restaurant at the beach last night with my oldest friend (fifteen and a half years, wow) and had a loud, ridiculously inappropriate conversation with him, then went to get white hot chocolates at Gloria Jeans. There was a guy there playing guitar, and he was amazing! Name was Kane Leo, and I maybe wanted to bring him home with me so he could live in the stairwell and play guitar forever. Anyway, that's not creepy.

I just saw myself on GNW! )

Last assignment is handed in. I'm going to the Good News Week taping tomorrow. To breathe the same air as Paul McDermott. That is all.

There will be details to come. Oh, there will be details.

Oh also, I just found my old Dolly Diary from when I was... fourteen. Filled with "I <3 Lija"s and ridiculous things. BUT Mr February was Jared Padalecki. And left over blutack suggests I COVERED HIS FACE WITH ELIJAH. Ahahah I feel so amused. And slightly guilty. Mostly amused.

Mother has been talking seriously about taking a mother/daughter trip to Melbourne for one of the Green Day shows. Omg.

I have this epic urge to go bushwalking. It's only fun when it's 2*C and cloudy skies and crisp. Also I practically salivate at the smell of smoke/campfires. We went on a trail out near Bondi several years ago and stumbled across a Scouts group cooking damper; zomg I waaant.

Anyway. I'm completely normal. New hair, plus GNW squee )

I shall now return to my comparison of the Great Gatsby and Emma (of the Jane Austen Persuasion. Haha get it? Oh, literary jokes.) for my Modernism subject. This comparison does not actually make much sense, but do I care? No. So long as I get a mark of above 50. And if they didn't want me to discuss these texts, they should have said so in the assessment outline.

Hobbit hole. 'nuff said.

(If said Hobbit hole was Bag End, and I lived with Frodo, well, where's the harm?)

Wow. Epic urge for Lord of the Rings. Just another two weeks until I can indulge in it. Right. I'mma go away now and work work work until Friday. I really am.

Sorry, what? How did I miss this? Is there even anything to say about it? I don't think there are words. Carry on, boys! I want to touch Billie's hair.

Script is handed in. Now I have to write my short story, due Thursday morning. I should have started this earlier. But, alas, I am an idiot. And now it's like Paul McDermott meets Drop Dead Fred, but it's too late to change it, so... Tally Ho!

Oh, and GNW! ) and also Asylum )

Script is not going so well. I have almost 30 pages. I need 45ish by Monday morning. And it's suddenly turned sappy and ridiculous. It had such promise.

But then Asylum happened and I got distracted.

Seriously, I need to know how Jensen knows what Jared looks like in a bathtub ;) And also, JENSEN HAS LONGISH HAIR, and apparently there was some J2!arm-draping, and apart from the utter chaos that the con seems to be suffering from, it all sounds rather wonderful! ... Alright, back to churning out this filth I call a major scripting assignment.

Oh, note to [info]obli_ttw; It's been suggested to me that we be ready to line up for GNW at about 1:30. We could actually possibly get awesome seats! ie. down the front or to the side for Hot Spot! Eeeeee I may implode with glee to be within that distance of Mr McDermott. But we can perfect our lining-up techniques with subsequent shows, also.

Also, I've nearly lost 20kg! (technically 17ish) I am so impressed with myself that I feel the need to go buy a chocolate bar and devour it all. Slowly and piggishly. Mwahaha.

Also this. )

Guys, guys, guys. So far, Ronan Keating and random brainless singers have guest starred on Good News Week - so I demand Billie Joe make an appearance! He actually has a brain. Omg, how awesome would that be? He and Paul can flirt, and snark about the state of America! And compete for shortest person! Pleeeease Paul? I love you for flirting outrageously with Jensen, even if it was largely cross-promotion, but but but Billie?

Are you picking up on my burgeoning McDermott obsession? I'm seeing him in, like, two weeeeeks. :D
Did I just insult Ronan Keating? Oops. My childhood cries today.

Right. My script. That thing that's due Monday. Work, Emma, work.

I'm sure we were all shocked and saddened to hear about Misha's pony. It is now walking the treadmill in the sky. I would very much like to see this bunker of his though.

Green Day continue to be adorable and gay. Let's see if J2 can match them at Asylum. Seriously, why does this stuff always take place when I have scripts and short stories to complete? (Although on that note, I just got another HD for my script pitching assessment, so that's certainly boosted my confidence in this subject somewhat. And that took place around AHBL. Ahhhh.)

Again with Good News Week guests attempting to have sex with Paul. It's like it's some kind of law! I love this show oh so much. Speaking of, are J2 likely to do talkshows etc around Asylum? I think it's necessary! Someone mentioned they should do Graham Norton. I support this.)

Oh, and my album finally arrived! So pretty :D It doesn't fit in my special Green Day CD rack, though, so I'll have to... build an extension/platform for it to sit on. Or something.

Anyway. Off to come up with a storyline for the prose major work. Having possibly exhausted my gay/lesbian couple story quota for the year, maybe it can even feature straight folk. Ehhh.

You guys, Misha having a Twitter is the most amusing thing ever. He can totally tweet about J2 shenanigans when filming starts back up. I spent the day watching S1 and squeeing over dorky happy giggly Dean, oh my God.

Green Day were on Aussie Video Hits today, and I hope someone caught it on tape because I swear to God, Billie and Tre were practically cuddling. Billie also mentioned their lack of theatre/musical experience, other than taking their kids to see the Lion King (together? eeee), but that they were excited about AI the musical, and that they planned to dress up as cats and get on stage. Then made a highly effeminate purring sound. Yay, Billie.

Oh, and Billie straddling Mike, and Cutest body language ever + Billie mentions Twilight, and Billie being freaking adorable and glomping Mike at the end.

I feel so privileged, being born the same month their first album came out. It also makes me feel relatively young, in comparison. Or maybe it makes them seem really old. I dunno. Probably the first.
